One policeman was killed and two CRPF men were injured when militants fired at a Naka (checkpoint) party at Kreeri Pattan in Baramulla on Monday.

The attack by militants was repulsed by the police and CRPF. After a brief exchange of fire, the militants fled from the spot. The security personnel quickly cordoned off the area and began searching for the militants.

The slain policeman was identified as Muzaffar Ahmed. He was a Special Police Officer (SPO). The injured CRPF men were shifted to hospital.

This is the second attack on a Naka party by militants after the Nowgam attack in which two policemen were killed on August 14.
