For the first time in nearly four decades the Vadodara Jagannath rathyatra was not taken out in the city since its start. Following the stay the temple authorities organise the rathyatra inside the temple premises and seek blessings of Lord Jagannath, Bhagwan Balbhadra and Devi Subhadra.

Following the court guidelines the 39th Vadodara Iskcon rathyatra was taken out inside the temple premises. As per tradition Mayor Dr. Jigishaben Sheth, MP Ranjan Bhatt and others sweep the road ahead of the chariot and later devotees pull the rath inside the premises to continue the decades old tradition.

Following the court order Jagannath rathyatra in Vadodara was not taken out like every year. The Corona pandemic put a stoppage on all the religious functions and gatherings in view of containing the virus. However the temple authorities decide to organise the yatra inside the temple premises as per the tradition with limited presence of people.

The decision of stay on rathyatra dampen the spirits of devotees who are waiting for the whole year to catch a glimpse of Lord Jagannath comes out with brother Balbhadra and sister Subhadra to give darshan. But due to the spike in Covid 19 cases the decision is taken for the benefit of people and contain the virus.
