In the unique social initiative of “Mission Food Distribution”, West Zone of IRCTC has crossed the big figure of 3 lakh on 19th April, 2020, as they have prepared & distributed 3,16,417 food packets of Dal Khichdi with pickle & other meals during last 22 days from 29th March, 2020 to 19th April, 2020 for the needy and destitute persons. They distribute the packets through its 5 base kitchens at Mumbai Central & Ahmedabad of WR, Bhusawal & Pune of Central Rly & Itarsi of West Central Rly. Out of these a big share of 1.65 lakh food packets have been distributed over WR in nearby areas at Mumbai Central & Ahmedabad Rly stations.

IRCTC is trying hard for providing meals to the poor and needy persons in the mega city from its base kitchen at Mumbai Central, without a hint of giving up and have continued its mission for providing meals to the troubled in the nearby areas of Mumbai Central station.

According to a press release, issued by WR CPRO Ravinder Bhakar, community Bhojan made at the IRCTC’s kitchen at Mumbai Central, has been distributed to the most helpless persons through NGOs like Salaam Mumbai, MC AALM, Sainath Mahila Mandal, Akhil Bharatiya Samiti, Collectors Office, Nanhi Pari, Terapanth Yuvak Parishad & various other NGOs across Mumbai, in co-ordination with the Commercial and RPF staff of Western Railway. 5300 meal packets in Mumbai and 3000 meal packets in Ahmedabad were produced and distributed by IRCTC on 19th April, 2020.

To tackle the high demands, IRCTC has tied up with Kendriya Bhandars across in Mumbai, Ahmedabad and other cities wherever they are in operation for supplying raw materials to ensure continuous preparation of community food on daily basis. IRCTC’s West Zone Group General Manager Rahul Himalian stated that community Bhojan is made at the IRCTC’s base kitchen at Mumbai Central with all best possible safety measures & aspects. He said that till date IRCTC’s Mumbai Central base kitchen has supplied 1,14,090 and Ahmedabad base kitchen has supplied 49,687 food packets till now.

On 19h April, 2020. 6520 meals were distributed by Mumbai Division. Vadodara division has supplied 1550 food packets in Vadodara city through Jay Manav Seva Pariwar Trust. 125 Meals were given to labourers of Nadiad Goods shed. Similarly, 150 ration kits were distributed by Bhavnagar division with the help of NGOs at Sihor and Bhavnagar. In addition to this 40 ration Kits containing Bajra, Mung dal, Tuver dal, Rice, Cooking Oil, Chilli powder, Haldi powder, Potatoes, Onion, Salt and Bath Soaps have been distributed in Mill Chali at Mahuva, Rapar, Longiya, Bhadrod, Talgajarda, Jadra, Dudhala and Madhiya villages to poor & needy persons. 294 meal packets were distributed by Rajkot division. More over 300 meals containing Paav Bhaji and Butter Milk were distributed to needy persons by checking staff of WR at Junagadh.

Ratlam division has distributed 345 food packets . RPF of WR prepared and distributed 450 food packets from its own sources, as well as 700 food packets provided by NGOs were also distributed to helpless persons.
