Session conducted for making students aware of the social media tools handled by Information Department and Government

Information Department of Gujarat, Vadodara office’s Deputy Director B.P Desai chaired the sessions with students of Mass Communication and Journalism of MS University of Baroda on Friday. The session was conducted to make students aware about social media tools handled by the department and government. He was assisted by Devangi Gadhvi, working in the same department under Chief Minister’s Fellowship program and also an alumni of the FJC department, MSU.

Dr. Nidhi Shendurnikar, Assistant Professor and Dean of Students of Faculty of Journalism and Communication welcomed the officials from Information department. The one on discussion was held to make students aware of Information Department, its working and how different social media tools like facebook, instagram, twitter, youtube, website, can be helpful for them to get updated with the current affairs and programs and schemes by Government.

The session started with an interaction between Devangi Gadhvi and students, making them aware about the Information Department, how it works as a bridge between Government and public and making them aware of differnet activities of Information Department. Further B.P. Desai made students aware of the different prevailing schemes, programs of Government and the way Information Department works and how it is beneficial to public as well as Government.

Desai also discussed about the digital world and how it is available on finger tips to get updated about the latest happenings all across the world. He informed the students about the use of different social media tools and activeness of Information Department on the same tools by providing information and making them aware of the current affairs, different schemes and information related to Government.

He further shared about various publications, schemes of Government and distributed the ‘Gujarat Rojgaar Samachar’, ‘Gujarat Pakshik’ publications with students and also distributed an informative card giving details about social media tools handled by Information Department which also includes a QR Code for directly linking with the website of Information Department of Gujarat.
