Water will be filtered and stored in the water harvesting well of the society
Ganeshotsav is just few days away and the cultural city of Vadodara is already in the mood and welcome Lord Ganesha to their homes and pandals. Like every year the local pandals are taking unique measures to celebrate the festival with great enthusiasm.
Indraprasth Yuvak Mandal from Ellora Park area this time import a artificial pond for immersion of clay idols in a effort to save the environment. The 3.50 lakh cost pond will be used to immerse the Ganesha idols made from clay and later the water will be filtered and stored in the water harvesting well of the society. The effort is to save the water animals lives inside the ponds from getting affected during the immersion.
As per mandal president Tarang Shah the city faced water shortage last time and almost every lakes in the city had less water. The administration prepared artificial ponds for the immersion of Ganesha idols. This time they decide to import the artificial pond from China where we allow the clay idols for immersion. The pond will only be used for the same purpose.
The folding pond is cost around 3.50lakhs and is the size of 40/18 and carries 60,000 litres of water. The engineers came to the city during the month of January and briefed about how to joint and use the pond and also showed a film on it. Idols from one foot to four foot will be immersed inside the pond spreacially the clay ones.
The other mandals can use the pond and the mandal will provide them all the pooja items during the rituals. The mandal is anxiously waiting for the response this year and plan to install such artificial ponds in every area of the city.
The aim is to save the water animals from getting affected by the immersion as many pandals still continue to install POP idols and that is dangerous. The mandal plans to filter the water and store it inside the water harvesting tank and the clay will be used in the gardens.
