To arrest bootlegging activities in train and railway premises, a special drive was conducted by the Mumbai Division's Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Western Railway.

According to a press release issued by Sumit Thakur- Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, RPF Mumbai Division is taking strict action against bootleggers carrying illegal liquor in trains and on railway premises, which is prohibited in the state of Gujarat. Special drives are being conducted on regular basis at major stations in Gujarat such as Surat, Vapi, Valsad, Navsari, Udhna and bordering district of Nandurbar.

It is worthwhile to mention that in the current year 2021, 106 cases have been detected by the RPF, Mumbai Division. In these, 96 persons were arrested by RPF and 10,603 bottles of illegal liquor worth Rs. 8,06,722/- were seized which were handed over to GRP to registering case. Raids are being conducted at regular intervals to crack down on such miscreants.
