On the 146th anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's birth, President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to him on Sunday (October 31, 2021).

President Kovind took to Twitter to say that Indian citizens will always be grateful to him for developing a work culture based on integrity and dedication to the country.

"My humble tributes on the birth anniversary of Iron Man, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. A symbol of the unity of the country, Sardar Patel occupies a high place among our foremost nation-builders. The countrymen will always be indebted to Sardar Patel for establishing a work culture based on morality and service to the nation," the President added.

Prime Minister Modi stated that Sardar Patel always put the national interest first and wanted India to be capable, inclusive, sensitive, alert, humble, and prosperous.

PM Modi, addressing to the nation on the birth anniversary of India's first deputy prime minister and home minister, stated that the country will only be able to achieve its goals if people remain united.

"Today, deriving inspiration from him, the country is becoming fully capable of meeting both external and internal challenges," stated Modi.

The Prime Minister noted that the nation is paying tribute to Sardar Patel, who lost his life for the cause of 'Ek Bharat, Shreshth Bharat,' and that Patel lives not just in history but also in the hearts and minds of all Indians.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also paid floral tribute to the Statue of Unity in Kevadia on the occasion, saying that his commitment, loyalty, struggle, and sacrifice serve as an inspiration to citizens for the country's unity and integrity.

"Sardar Sahib's dedication, loyalty, struggle and sacrifice for the motherland inspires every Indian to dedicate himself for the unity and integrity of the country. On the birth anniversary of such a great craftsman of united India, salutations at his feet and best wishes to all the countrymen on `National Unity Day`," tweeted Shah.

It really should be remembered that October 31 has been observed as National Unity Day ('Rashtriya Ekta Diwas') since 2014 to commemorate the birth anniversary of India's Iron Man, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
