Three men, including a former student and two current students of a reputed law college in South Kolkata, have been arrested for the alleged gang rape of a student on the college campus. The incident reportedly took place on the evening of June 25, between 7:30 p.m. and 10:50 p.m., inside the institution’s premises.
According to Kolkata Police, the accused have been identified as:
Manojit Mishra (30) – a former student of the college
Pramit Mukherjee (20) – current student
Zaib Ahmed (19) – current student

A First Information Report (FIR) was lodged at the Kasba Police Station based on the survivor’s complaint. She was medically examined at Calcutta National Medical College and Hospital shortly after the incident was reported.
Police officials said that witness statements have been recorded, and the crime scene was secured and preserved for forensic investigation.
The investigation led to the arrest of the accused within hours. Mishra and Ahmed were arrested around 7:30 p.m. on June 26 from Siddhartha Shankar Sishu Roy Udyan, near Talbagan crossing.
Mukherjee was arrested later, around 12:30 a.m. on June 27, from his residence. The mobile phones of all three accused have been seized for digital forensic analysis.
Court Appearance Today
All three accused are expected to be produced before the Alipore Court on Friday, June 27, where police will seek custodial remand to further the investigation.
The college administration has not released a public statement as of now. The incident has sparked outrage on social media and raised urgent concerns about the safety of students within academic institutions.
