New Update

Terrorists opened fire on a store owned by a Kashmiri Pandit in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, on Monday, killing a man working inside. After a police officer was shot dead by terrorists on Sunday, this was the second targeted killing.

The victim, named as Mohammad Ibrahim, was brought to the hospital in a serious condition but was proclaimed dead shortly after the incident.

He worked as a salesperson in the shop and was a Bandipora inhabitant.

After being closed for 29 years, the business reopened in early 2019.

Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister In a tweet, Omar Abdullah wrote, "The dastardly killing of Ibrahim is reprehensible & I unreservedly condemn it. Unfortunately Ibrahim is the latest in a series of targeted killings in the valley, especially Srinagar. May Allah grant him place in Jannat." The area has been blocked off by security officers in order to track down the attackers.

This was Srinagar's second terrorist attack in the last 24 hours. Officials reported a police officer was assassinated by terrorists in the city's Batmaloo region on Sunday.

In the last month, there have been a series of targeted attacks in Srinagar and other regions of Kashmir. At least 11 individuals have been targeted, the majority of whom are migrant labourers and members of the minority population.

In Kashmir, the police have initiated a significant operation, detaining over 900 persons accused of being associated to separatists. The majority of the terrorists involved in recent targeted attacks, according to the authorities, were killed in encounters.

In addition, the police conducted 11 engagements in which 17 terrorists were killed. Even though Kashmir is already loaded with security forces, almost 5,000 additional troops have been deployed to deal with the crisis.
