Tamil Nadu: Massive fire breaks out at Tata Electronics manufacturing unit

A massive fire broke out at Tata Electronics manufacturing unit in Tamil Nadu's Hosur on Saturday. The fire started in the cellphone manufacturing section, prompting employees to evacuate the premises, initial reported suggested.

Sources reported that a significant property damage has been reported, and fire brigades are currently working to control the blaze.

Local media reported that the fire is believed to have originated in the mobile phone accessories painting unit of the company located in Uddanapalli, near Nagamangalam, around 5:30 am.

Thick smoke soon engulfed the area, causing panic among workers and local residents. Several fire engines were dispatched to evacuate the employees from the site, and no injuries have been reported so far.

At the time of the incident, approximately 1,500 workers were on duty for the first shift. The cause of the fire remains unknown.

A Tata Electronics Private Limited (TEPL) spokesperson, in a statement to Moneycontrol, confirmed the fire at their Hosur plant in Tamil Nadu. 

The spokesperson said emergency protocols were followed, ensuring the safety of all employees. The cause of the fire is under investigation, and the company will take appropriate measures to protect its employees and stakeholders.

Police officials reported that three employees experiencing respiratory issues were taken to a private hospital, where their condition is stable, sources reported. 

More than 100 police personnel were deployed to manage the situation and ensure all employees vacated the premises safely.
