The tour of Rashtrapati Bhavan and the Rashtrapati Bhavan Museum would be closed starting Saturday due to the present COVID-19 scenario caused by the Omicron variation.
"As a precautionary measure against the spread of coronavirus pandemic, tour of Rashtrapati Bhavan and Rashtrapati Bhavan Museum for the general public will remain closed from tomorrow (January 1, 2022) till further notice," the President`s Secretariat informed on Friday in a press release.
The official notification also stated that the Change of Guard event would be postponed till further notice.
Meanwhile, the state health department announced on Friday that Delhi has 1,796 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, the largest single-day increase since May 22.
The positive rate in the national capital has risen to 2.44 percent, up from 1.73 percent on Thursday, according to data published by the state health department.
The total number of COVID-19 cases in Delhi has now reached 14,48,211.
Over 1200 Omicron cases have been documented in India thus far.
