Polling is underway for the seventh and last phase of assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh. Voting, which started at 7 this morning, will continue till 6 pm. In some constituencies of Chandauli and Sonbhadra districts polling will end at 4 pm.

These districts are Mau, Azamgarh, Jaunpur, Ghazipur, Varanasi, Chandauli, Mirzapur, Sonbhadra and Bhadohi. A total of 613 candidates are in the fray for this phase.
The Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) is being used along with Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) at every Polling Station.
In view of the prevailing Corona pandemic, Election Commission has laid focus on COVID-safe elections with maximum participation. The Commission has decided to allow maximum 1,250 electors in a Polling Station instead of earlier stipulation of 1,500 electors.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that today is the last phase of festival of democracy in Uttar Pradesh. In a tweet, Mr Modi has urged all the voters to participate in the seventh and last phase of the Assembly Elections with full enthusiasm and create a new record of voting.
