On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit the states of Manipur and Tripura, where he will inaugurate a number of development projects. The Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for 22 development projects worth over Rs 4,800 crore in Imphal at 11 a.m.
He will next inaugurate the New Integrated Terminal Building at Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport in Agartala at roughly 2 p.m., as well as unveil two significant development initiatives, according to the Prime Minister's office.
"In Manipur, the Prime Minister will inaugurate 13 Projects worth around Rs 1,850 crores and lay the foundation stone of nine projects worth around Rs 2,950 crore," the official release said.
The Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for the building of five National Highway Projects worth over Rs 1700 crore, as part of a countrywide initiative to boost connectivity.
The construction of the Steel Bridge across the Barak River on NH-37, which cost over Rs 75 crore and would improve year-round connection to Silchar from Imphal and lessen traffic congestion, is another key infrastructure project.
During the programme, the Prime Minister will dedicate this Steel Bridge. According to the official announcement, the Prime Minister will also dedicate 2,387 mobile towers erected at a cost of over Rs 1100 crores to the people of Manipur.
The Prime Minister will dedicate the Rs 280 crore 'Water Transmission system of Thoubal Multi-purpose project,' which will provide drinking water to Imphal city; the Rs 65 crore 'Water Supply Scheme project by Water Conservation for Tamenglong Headquarters,' which will provide safe drinking water to residents of ten habitations in Tamenglong district; and the 'Augmentation of Senapati District Headquarter Water Supply,' which will provide drinking water to residents of ten habitations in Senapati district
The Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone of a 'State of the Art Cancer Hospital' in Imphal, worth roughly Rs 160 crore on a purchasing power parity (PPP) basis, in an effort to enhance the state's health sector.
In addition, the Prime Minister would open the '200 Bedded COVID Hospital at Kiyamgei,' which was built at a cost of around Rs 37 crore in partnership with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), according to the statement.
The Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC), 'Development of Western Riverfront on Imphal River (Phase I)', and 'Development of Mall Road at Thangal Bazar (Phase I)' are three initiatives of the Imphal Smart City Mission that have a total cost of more than Rs 170 crore.
The Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for the state's 'Centre for Invention, Innovation, Incubation, and Training (CIIIT),' which would cost around Rs 200 crore to construct.
This is the state's largest public-private partnership project. In Gurgaon, Haryana, the Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for the Manipur Institute of Performing Arts.
The institute will cost more than Rs 240 crore to construct. The Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for 72 projects worth more than Rs 130 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram, in keeping with the philosophy of "Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas."
The Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for two projects costing Rs 36 crore to strengthen the state's handloom industry: the 'Mega Handloom Cluster' at NongpokKakching in Imphal East District, which will benefit over 17,000 weavers, and the 'Craft and Handloom Village' in Moirang.
The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for the Government Residential Quarters in New Check, which will cost roughly Rs 390 crore to construct. In Ibudhou Marjing, Imphal East, he will also lay the foundation stone for a ropeway project.
During his visit to Tripura, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Maharaja Bir Bikram (MBB) Airport's New Integrated Terminal Building and launch two significant initiatives: the Mukhyamantri Tripura Gram Samriddhi Yojana and Project Mission 100 of Vidyajyoti Schools.
The Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport's New Integrated Terminal Building cost over Rs 450 crore to construct. Project Mission 100 of Vidyajyoti Schools aims to improve the state's educational level by transforming 100 existing high/higher secondary schools into Vidyajyoti Schools with state-of-the-art facilities and high-quality education.
The project will benefit around 1.2 lakh kids from Nursery to Class XII and will cost approximately Rs 500 crores over the next three years.
