Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that India has witnessed a remarkable transformation over the last 11 years under his leadership. He stated that path-breaking initiatives have empowered women, youth, and farmers across the country, lifting over 25 crore people out of poverty.
Highlighting the government’s reform-driven approach, the Prime Minister said that the popular sentiment today is to make India Aatmanirbhar (self-reliant) across all sectors — a vision reflected in the clarion call, “Garv Se Kaho, Yeh Swadeshi Hai.”
Emphasising that the values of the Constitution remain his guiding principle, PM Modi reaffirmed his commitment to work even harder in the coming years to realise the collective dream of a Viksit Bharat (Developed India).
Expresses Gratitude to the People
As he marks his 25th year of serving the nation as the head of government, PM Modi expressed heartfelt gratitude to the people for their continuous trust and affection.
“Serving the nation is the highest honour — a duty that fills me with gratitude and purpose,” the Prime Minister said.
Reflecting on his journey, he recalled his early days as Chief Minister of Gujarat, when the state was grappling with severe challenges. “Many believed Gujarat could never rise again,” he said, noting that citizens — particularly farmers — faced issues like power shortages and water scarcity.
Through collective effort and good governance, he said, Gujarat was transformed into a powerhouse of development, emerging from a drought-prone region to a top performer in agriculture. The state’s strong trading culture also evolved into robust industrial and manufacturing capacities.
From Gujarat to the Nation
PM Modi also remembered 2013, when he was chosen as the BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate for the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. He recalled that India at the time was suffering from a crisis of trust and governance, with the then UPA government mired in corruption, cronyism, and policy paralysis.
“The people of India gave the NDA a resounding mandate,” he said, adding that the BJP secured an absolute majority, reflecting the nation’s faith in reform, performance, and integrity.
