Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the second phase of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (Ujjwala 2.0) by handing over the LPG connections at Mahoba in Uttar Pradesh at 12:30 PM today through video conferencing. During the event, the Prime Minister will interact with beneficiaries of the Ujjwala and will also address the nation.

Under Ujjwala 2.0, one crore LPG connections will be provided to those low-income families who could not be covered under the first phase of the scheme. Along with a deposit free LPG connection, Ujjwala 2.0 will provide first refill and hotplate stove free of cost to the beneficiaries. Also, the enrollment procedure will require minimum paperwork.

In Ujjwala 2.0, migrants will not be required to submit ration cards or address proof. A self-declaration for both 'family declaration' and as a 'proof of address' will suffice. Ujjwala 2.0 will help in achieving the Prime Minister's vision of universal access to LPG.

Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri and Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath will also be present on the occasion.

Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 1st, 2016 in Ballia, a district in Poorvanchal region of state. Till date more than 8 crore LPG connections have been provided to the beneficiaries under the scheme in the country. This time the land of Bundelkhand region will become witness of the launch of second part of ujjwala which aims to change the life of households especially the women of the country.

During the first phase of the ujjwala scheme more than 1 crore 47 lakh gas connections have been made available to the poor families of the state. On this occasion Union petroleum and natural gas minister Hardeep Singh Puri will also launch the compressed biogas plant being established in Muzaffarnagar district.
