Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said the National Education Policy 2020 will give wings to the million dreams of our youth. Addressing the education community in the country on the first anniversary of National Education Policy, NEP 2020 Mr Modi said NEP 2020 will play a key role in India's golden future as nation is on verge of entering 75 Years of Independence. He launched multiple key initiatives in education sector on the occasion.
The Prime Minister said the whole education setup was disturbed due to COVID 19 but the students quickly adopted to the change and got accustomed to online teaching. He stated that India's youth will play a crucial role in the vision of Industry 4.0 and Digital India mission. He said a youth that is destined to do great needs an education that is future oriented and supports their dreams. He also said that the Policy will free students from unnecessary exam pressure.
Mr Modi said that earlier, students used to go to foreign countries to further pursue their education but soon students will be able to get world-class education in their own motherland. He added that NEP 2020 also lets students pursue their education in their own mother tongue and they will have multiple options to choose their medium of instruction.
He expressed happiness that 14 engineering colleges in 8 states are going to start engineering courses in 5 Indian languages. These are Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi and Bengali. A tool has also been developed for translation of engineering course in 11 Indian languages.
Prime Minister launched the Academic Bank of Credit that will provide multiple entry and exit options for students in Higher education, 1st Year Engineering Programmes in Regional Languages and Guidelines for Internationalization of Higher Education.
Vidya Pravesh, a three month play based school preparation module for Grade 1 students, Indian Sign Language as a Subject at secondary level and NISHTHA 2.0 which is an integrated programme of teacher training designed by National Council of Educational Research and Training- NCERT were also launched. Besides, Structured Assessment For Analyzing Learning Levels- SAFAL, a competency based assessment framework for Grades 3, 5 and 8 in CBSE schools and a website dedicated to Artificial Intelligence were also launched.
Prime Minister said NISHTHA 2.0 will not only provide training to teachers but teachers too can give their valuable suggestions and inputs to their departments. He said this will give a big boost to Indian Sign Language, and will help Divyang students a lot. He said that now Indian Sign Language will also be taught as a subject at secondary level.
