Just days after hoisting the Dharma Dhwaja at Ayodhya’s Ram Temple, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Udupi on Friday for the Vishwaparyaya celebrations at the historic Sri Krishna Matha. The key attraction of the event is the Laksha Kanta Gita Parayana, where more than one lakh devotees will recite the Bhagavad Gita together. Modi will chant the last 10 verses of the 15th chapter, considered spiritually significant.

Tight Security in Udupi

Ahead of the Prime Minister’s visit, Udupi has been placed under extensive security measures. Drone flying has been prohibited, traffic routes around the Matha have been diverted, and over 3,000 police personnel—including 10 SPs, 27 DySPs, KSRP teams, and 39 women officers—have been deployed. Bomb squads and surveillance units are carrying out continuous inspections along the roadshow route and key public areas. Public entry into the Sri Krishna Matha will remain closed from 8 AM to 3 PM.

Modi’s Detailed Schedule

  • 11:05 AM: Arrival at Mangalore Airport
  • 11:30 AM: Helicopter transfer to Udupi
  • 11:40 AM – 12 PM: 20-minute roadshow from Bannanje Circle to Kalsanka Junction, expected to draw massive crowds
  • 12 PM: Visit to Sri Krishna Matha and inauguration of the gold-plated Teertha Mantapa, built for ₹2 crore to mark 50 years of ascetic life of Puthige Swamiji

Modi also shared a message in Kannada on social media, calling the visit an “honour” and praising the Laksha Kanta Gita Parayana for bringing people from all backgrounds together. He lauded the Matha’s cultural and social contributions inspired by Sri Madhvacharya.

Laksha Kanta Gita Parayana & Public Address

At 1 PM, the Prime Minister will take part in the mass Gita recitation and later address the gathering. He is expected to speak about the cultural depth of the Bhagavad Gita, the spiritual tradition preserved by the Krishna Matha, and the importance of such events in strengthening communal harmony.

After inaugurating the Teertha Mantapa, Modi will witness the Kanaka Navagraha Kindi and offer prayers to Lord Krishna. The visit is being hailed as a moment of honour for Udupi, drawing thousands of devotees and highlighting the Matha’s enduring cultural significance.
