after consuming the contaminated syrup. After taking Ranganathan into custody, police have begun intensive interrogation to uncover the full extent of the case.

Earlier, the Madhya Pradesh Police had announced a cash reward of ₹20,000 for information leading to the arrest of the absconding owners of Srisan Pharmaceuticals. On Wednesday, Madhya Pradesh’s Minister of State for Health, Narendra Shivaji Patel, stated that the deaths were caused by poisonous cough syrup and held the Tamil Nadu government accountable for this grave negligence. He said, "It is the responsibility of the Tamil Nadu government to inspect medicines being exported from the state. While the Madhya Pradesh government does conduct random inspections of medicines entering the state, this particular batch of syrup was unfortunately not among the samples tested."
