Nupur Sharma withdraws plea from Supreme Court

Suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma withdrew her plea requesting to club FIRs against her after the Supreme Court came down heavily upon her for the leader's remarks against Prophet during a television debate.

Hearing the plea on Friday, the Court said, "The way she has ignited emotions across the country; This lady is single-handedly responsible for what is happening in the country (referring to protests and Udaipur murder following her comments)."

The Court questioned the need for the debate at the first place. The apex court asked, "What is the business of the TV channel to discuss the matter which is sub-judice, except to promote an agenda?" The Court observed that her comments were disturbing.

The Court said that Nupur Sharma should apologize to the whole nation. The Court also criticised the Delhi police for its inaction in the case. Nupur Sharma later withdrew the plea after Court refused to entertain it.
