No shortage of coal in country, Informs by Union Minister Hardeep Singh puri

Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri has informed that there is no shortage of coal in the country.

In his written reply in Lok Sabha today, he has informed that all India coal production during 2022-23 was over 893 million tonnes, registering a growth of about 14.77 percent over last year.

The adoption of a five-pronged strategy by the ministry is reducing import dependency on hydrocarbons.

The ministry is making efforts to increase domestic production, adopt biofuels and renewables, adopt energy efficiency norms and improve the refinery processes and demand substitution.

The Hydrocarbon Exploration and Licensing Policy and Sustainable Alternative towards affordable transportation initiative will promote ease of doing business and create an ecosystem for the production of compressed biogas.
