Saha was unanimously elected as the leader of the BJP legislature party on Monday and will take oath at the Vivekananda Ground in Tripura.

A statement from the Left Front statement said that former Chief Minister and CPI-M politburo member Manik Sarkar and Secretaries of the CPI-M, CPI, RSP and Forward Bloc were invited by the BJP to attend the ceremony.

However, the decision is to boycott the ceremony to protest against the BJP goons who had unleashed terror since the Assembly election results were announced.

Chowdhury added that the police remained a silent spectator and refused to register FIRs.

This comes amid reports that at least eight people were injured in post-poll violence in Tripura. Most of the post-poll violence cases were reported from Sepahijala and Khowai districts.

The CPI(M) had alleged that the savage post-poll violence was unleashed by the BJP against the CPI(M), Left Front and opposition party cadres because it was unwilling to accept that it won a wafer-thin majority.

The party said a large number of homes and properties of CPI(M) supporters were carried out by the BJP men.

The BJP won 32 seats in the 60-member House in the recent assembly elections in Tripura, while its ally IPFT managed to secure one seat.

The Tipra Motha, formed by the former scion of the state's princely family Pradyot Kishore Debbarma, bagged 13 seats, while the Left-Congress alliance secured 14.
