Airports and civil aviation facilities across India have been placed on high alert following a security advisory from the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), in response to intelligence inputs warning of a potential terror threat. The alert is in effect from September 22 to October 2, 2025.
According to official sources, the BCAS issued the directive on August 4, calling for immediate reinforcement of security protocols at all aviation-related installations — including airports, airstrips, helipads, flying schools, and training institutes. The advisory emphasizes heightened surveillance, intensified patrolling, and tighter access control at these facilities.
The move comes in the wake of intelligence inputs suggesting a possible terror plot linked to a Pakistan-based extremist group. In light of this, all stakeholders have been instructed to work in close coordination with local police, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), the Intelligence Bureau (IB), and other central security agencies.
Security personnel at airports and affiliated sites have been directed to remain on high alert around the clock. Security has been ramped up not just within terminal areas, but also in parking lots, perimeter zones, and other vulnerable locations. Additional attention is also being given to cityside areas in cooperation with local law enforcement.
Officials say the enhanced vigilance is part of a broader effort to ensure public safety ahead of significant national events and observances during the alert window.
Authorities urge the public to remain calm but vigilant and to report any suspicious activity immediately.
