Home Minister Amit Shah will inaugurate the 30th meeting of the Southern Zonal Council at Kovalam in Thiruvananthapuram this morning.
Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and his counterparts from the other Southern States, Administrators of the Union Territories of Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep will participate in the programme.
The Home Minister is the chairman of the Southern Zonal Council, comprising Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Telangana and Puducherry.
There are five zonal councils in India that were set up in 1957 under Section 15-22 of the States Reorganisation Act, 1956.
Later in the evening, Mr. Shah will inaugurate a meeting of the Scheduled Caste Morcha at Kazhakkuttam in the city.
He will then proceed to Kovalam to attend a core committee meeting of the BJP.
