Govt aims Bharatiya Antariksh Station by 2035 & Man on Moon by 2040 says Union Minister Jitendra Singh

Union Science and Technology Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh reaffirmed the government’s ambitious goals in the space sector, announcing that India remains firmly committed to establishing its own Bharatiya Antariksh Station by 2035 and sending a crewed Indian mission to the Moon by 2040. He emphasized that these major space milestones will be achieved ahead of India’s broader vision to become a Viksit Bharat (Developed India) by 2047.

Dr. Singh made these remarks during a special session in the Lok Sabha, focused on India’s growing space achievements, including the nation’s first astronaut mission to the International Space Station (ISS). He praised Indian Air Force Group Captain Subhanshu Shukla, whose historic ISS mission marked a major moment for Indian space exploration, saying that the entire nation is proud of his accomplishments.

Highlighting the progress made over the past 11 years under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the Minister spoke about several reforms in the space sector, including the decision to open the space industry to private players, which has resulted in a surge of innovation and the emergence of numerous space-tech startups across the country.

Dr. Singh also referenced the contribution of the Department of Space during Operation Sindoor, emphasizing that many of the technologies employed in such missions were developed under the current administration.

He pointed out that the space sector is not only crucial for national pride and defense but has also played a significant role in boosting the Indian economy, with innovations benefiting multiple sectors and improving the quality of life for ordinary citizens.

However, Dr. Singh also expressed concern over the opposition MPs’ protest during the session, criticizing them for failing to acknowledge the dedication and success of India’s scientists and space experts. He urged for a unified national spirit in celebrating such landmark achievements.
