Today , is the 5158th anniversary of the holy book" The Bhagavad Gita". Gita Jayanti day symbolizes the birth of Srimad Bhagavad-Gita, the sacred text of the Hindus. The conversations between Shri Krishna and Arjuna on the battlefield of Kurukshetra before the Mahabharata war began, gave birth to the Bhagavad Gita. This sacred book, revered by the Hindus, came into existence on the Shukla Paksha Ekadashi Tithi of Margashirsha month.

Gita is a wonderful scripture for the all round development of life. It contains divine ways for the welfare of all human beings belonging to all religion. The person who imbibes the knowledge of Gita is freed from frustration and disappointment. While all other scriptures were written on the battlefield, The Bhagavad Gita was written on the battlefield.

It is not a collection of do's and don'ts it prohibits the desire for fruit. The deeper you go into it, the richer the meanings you get. The person who will give this precious treasure and those who will absorb the teaching with faith certainly reach Lord Krishna. He advises the people to be free from malice and absorb the teaching with faith, then only "they will attain true freedom". It is essentially addressed to the heart and capable of being understood by the heart.
