An official said a fire broke out in a plant that makes perfume and plastic goods in the Vasai area of Maharashtra's Palghar district on Thursday.
According to regional disaster management cell chairman Santosh Kadam, no casualties have been recorded so far, but loud sounds, perhaps from drums exploding at the site, have been heard. The fire started around 10.30 a.m. in a unit in Kaman, Vasai township, and quickly spread across the building, he added.
The Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation dispatched two fire engines to the scene, and efforts to extinguish the blaze were still underway, according to the official."No one is injured, as per the latest reports," he said. The cause of the fire is not yet known, he added.
