Tweeted by @AIR Bureau of Indian Standards, BIS has conducted raids against 44 toy outlets across the country for selling their toys without valid BIS licenses.

It has seized over 18 thousand 600 toys in the last month under a Nationwide enforcement drive.

Director General BIS Pramod Kumar Tiwari told media in New Delhi that Toys are under the Mandatory Certification Scheme of BIS through Quality Control Order.

He said, the toys cannot be manufactured, sold, imported, or distributed without bearing the ISI Mark.

The Bureau of Indian Standards is the national standard body that is responsible for standardization, marking, and quality certification of goods.

The Central Consumer Protection Authority, CCPA has issued notices to e-commerce entities, Amazon, Flipkart, and Snapdeal for sale of toys in violation of standards directed for compulsory use by the Central Government.

It has sought a response from the e-commerce entities within seven days from issuance of a notice, failing which necessary action will be initiated under the provisions of the Consumer Protection Act.
