Today is Birth anniversary of Shaheed Ram Prasad Bismil, the freedom fighter who fought against British colonialism and laid down his life.

As part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the Ministry of Culture held a special ceremony at Shahjahanpur in Uttar Pradesh, the birth place of Shaheed Ram Prasad Bismil today to mark his birth anniversary.

Union Minister of State for Ministry of Culture and Tourism Prahlad Singh Patel offered floral tributes to Shaheed Ram Prasad Bismil, Shaheed Ashfaq Ullah Khan and Shaheed Roshan Singh at a special event organized by the Ministry of Culture at Shaheed Udayan Shahjahanpur.

On the occasion Mr Patel said that the nation can never forget the martyrdom of our freedom fighters.

He said that the Central government is organising special events like Amrit mahotsav to remember the heroes of our nation.

Suresh Khanna, Local MLA and the Minister of Finance Govt in UP government, Culture and Tourism Minister of state Neelkanth Tiwari along with other dignitaries were also present in the Pushpanjali Ceremony.

Sources reports, Culture Minister Prahlad Singh Patel also offered chadar at the Mazar of Shaheed Shaheed Ashfaq Ullah Khan.

Later he visited the ancestral house of Ram Prasad Bismil in Shahjahanpur and met with his family members.

He reviewed the progress of the under construction auditorium which is being made in the memory of martyrs.

During Pushpanjali program devotional music was played on Sitar and Shaheed Bismil's life story was narrated, followed by performance of patriotic songs on this occasion.

The Ministry of Culture is doing many virtual programmes regarding the contribution of Bismil and other patriots which is being shared on social media platforms.

Born on 11th June, 1897 in Shahjahanpur Pt. Ram Prasad Bismil was amongst the most notable Indian revolutionaries who fought against British colonialism. Birth anniversary of freedom fighter Shaheed Ram Prasad Bismil being observed todayHe wrote powerful patriotic poems in Urdu and Hindi under the pen name of Bismil from the age of 19.

He formed the Hindustan Republican Association with leaders like Bhagat Singh and Chandrasekhar Azad and participated in the Mainpuri conspiracy of 1918, and the Kakori conspiracy of 1925 with Ashfaq Ullah Khan and Roshan Singh to protest against the British Rule.
