According to the ministry of petroleum and natural gas on Friday, 22 states and union territories (UTs) have decreased VAT on fuel and diesel to provide assistance to consumers following the government of India's decision to reduce central excise duty on petrol and diesel by Rs 5 and Rs 10 respectively.

According to the government, 14 states and union territories have not adopted any VAT reductions on petrol and diesel. According to the research, Maharashtra, Delhi, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Meghalaya, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Jharkhand, Odisha, Chattisgarh, Punjab, and Rajasthan are among them.

The UT of Ladakh, followed by Karnataka and Puducherry, has seen the highest reduction in petrol prices, according to the ministry. It claimed that the cost of petrol had fallen by Rs 13.43, Rs 13.35, and Rs 12.85 in these UTs/states, respectively.

As per the government, the UT of Ladakh has reduced diesel costs the most, with a drop of Rs 19.61 per litre, accompanied by Karnataka and Puducherry.
