When he was the Bihar chief minister in the 1990s, a special CBI court found Rashtriya Janata Dal head Lalu Prasad Yadav guilty of fraudulently withdrawing Rs 139.35 crore from the Doranda Treasury. After hearing arguments on January 29, the court reserved its decision in the matter.

This is the fifth and last case in which Prasad has been found guilty in connection with the fodder fraud.

On Friday, February 18, the sentencing amount is scheduled to be announced. "Lalu Prasad has been convicted. The quantum of punishment will be pronounced on February 18," the CBI counsel said.

The fodder scandal arose from the unlawful withdrawal of public cash from government treasuries in undivided Bihar. After a raid at the Animal Husbandry Department in 1996, it was discovered.

Prasad was convicted to 14 years in prison in four incidents involving the treasuries of Dumka, Deoghar, and Chaibasa. In every case, he has been granted bail.
