The government has said that 20 lakh 58 thousand new workers have been enrolled under the Employees State Insurance Scheme in September this year.
As per the provisional payroll data released by the Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), the addition of new employees registered a growth of nine per cent as compared to the same period during the last year.
According to the data, 10 lakh 5 thousand employees amounting to around 49 per cent of the total registrations belong to the age group of up to 25 years.
Around 23,043 new establishments have been brought under the social security ambit of the ESI Scheme ensuring security for more workers.
The gender-wise analysis of the payroll data shows that the net enrolment of female members has been 3.91 lakh and a total of 64 transgender employees have also been registered under the scheme.
