India for the second day in a row recorded a single-day spike of over two lakh Covid cases with 2,17,353 new infections, an unprecedented number that took India’s case tally to 1,42,91,917.
In a span of 24 hours, the country reported 1,185 fatalities due to Covid-19. According data provided by the government, The death toll of the country stands at 1,74, 308.
India's COVID-19 tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on August 7, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5 and 50 lakh on September 16. It went past 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, crossed 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20 and surpassed the one-crore mark on December 19.
According to the ICMR, 26,20,03,415 samples have been tested up to April 14 with 13,84,549 samples being tested on Wednesday.
