Organised National Seminar on “Contemporary Perspectives for Human Development – Initiatives and Strategies towards implementation of SDGs

Indukaka Ipcowala Institute of Managment (I2IM) of Charusat Organised National Seminar on “Contemporary Perspectives for Human Development – Initiatives and Strategies towards implementation of SDGs” at the campus. The seminar was attended by 200 students of MBA and PGDM students and organized in partnership and collaboration with PCSD of OECD, France.

United Nations’ mission agenda of Transforming our World: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development includes 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) have been adopted by Indukaka Ipcowala Institute of Management (I2IM) of CHARUSAT university. As a partner institute of Policy Coherence for Sustainable Development (PCSD), Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), France, I2IM has been assigned the role of taking outcome based action to achieve the objective of SDGs within the state of Gujarat. I2IM and its more than 400 students of I2IM has taken up the challenge and carried out series of activities for the same.

The national seminar on “Contemporary Perspectives for Human Development – Initiatives and Strategies towards implementation of SDGs” was organized in the same direction by I2IM on April 29, 2019 at CHARUSAT Campus.

Dr. Vrajlal Sapovadia, Former Dean, The American University of Nigeria, USA gave a talk on ‘Sustainable Development Goals: Opportunities for Business.” He is also a Researcher, Partner and Course Facilitator of PCSF, OECD, France. In his talk, he stated that the face of development has changed, with diverse stakeholders involved and implemented in what are more and more seen as global and interlinked concerns.

Shailesh S. K. Hudda, Deputy Director, Gujarat Social Infrastructure Development Society (GSIDS), Gandhinagar delivered session on Human Development Index (HDI). Internal resource persons Dr. Govind Dave, Dean, Faculty of Management Studies, Principal, I2IM, Binit Patel, Assistant Professor, I2IM, and Kirti Makwana, Assistant Professor, I2IM delivered a talk on Institute’s completed research projects DHDR Vadodara and DHDR Chhotaudepur of the Government of Gujarat.

Also research papers on “Green Technology in 21st Century: Opportunities and Challenges” and “A study on Farmer’s Readiness for Organic Farming were presented by Dr. Govind Dave and Ms. Reshma Sable, Assistant Professor, I2IM.

The expert sessions and presentations were followed by the Poste|Paper|Case Presentations of the students of MBA and PFDM programmes on the themes of “Planning of Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Power Project” and “Union Budget 2019-20 and Sustainable Development Goals” under the guidance of Mr. Snehal Bhatt, Assistant Professor, I2IM.

The seminar covered wide range of vital issues like Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), SDGs and its relevance to Business Managers, SDGs in India, Role of CSR and Niti Aayog, Global Success Stories on SDGs, Institutional Coherence for SDGs implementation and others.
