South Western Air Command, Gandhinagar has intensified its Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) operations in the affected Vadodara, Navsari and Surat districts of Gujarat and Mumbai and Thane districts of Maharashtra. Till now 112 individuals, 45 in Gujarat and 67 in Maharashtra have already been rescued for which three helicopters were pressed into service.

Based on the request from State Government, on Monday 13 marooned villagers were rescued from Lahura and Kosadi villages of Mangrol Taluka in Surat. Three medium lift helicopters are dedicatedly deployed for the task and additional resources are kept on standby for any additional requirement that may come up. HADR Cell at HQ SWAC is monitoring 24×7 to meet any requirement in view of prevailing weather situation.
