Week after heavy rains, hundred of houses remain flooded in Gujarat's Mandvi town

A week after Kutch’s Mandvi town was flooded due to extremely heavy rainfall, multiple areas continue to be waterlogged with around 1000 houses remaining affected on Monday even as the state government deployed 15 dewatering pumps.

Houses in at least seven societies in Babavadi, Rameshwar Zupadpatti and Jogivas Salaya areas remained waterlogged for the seventh consecutive day on Monday. Around 1,000 households remained affected.


Chief officer of Mandvi municipality Sanjay Patel said that heavy waterlogging also persisted in Nityanand Babavadi, Meghmangalnagar, Jaynagar, Vijaynagar, Padmavatinagar.

The chief officer said that electricity was restored in the town on Sunday and that piped drinking water was supplied to residents on Monday.
