In a major crackdown under Gujarat’s prohibition laws, the Special Monitoring Cell (SMC) of Vadodara police seized Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) and a vehicle worth nearly ₹52 lakh during a raid near Wisteria Heights building at Kapurai crossroads late on Tuesday night.

According to officials, acting on a tip-off, a team intercepted a vehicle suspected of transporting liquor in violation of the Gujarat Prohibition Act.

On checking, police recovered 8,231 bottles of IMFL, valued at ₹44.93 lakh. The vehicle, an Intra pickup truck registration number GJ06, valued at around ₹7 lakh, was also seized.

The total value of the seized contraband and vehicle stands at ₹51.93 lakh

While the immediate handler of the consignment managed to evade arrest, police have identified four wanted accused in the case: the unknown receiver of the liquor in Vadodara city, the supplier, the driver of the seized pickup truck, and the registered owner of the vehicle.

The case has been registered at Kapurai police station under Sections of the Gujarat Prohibition Act. The accused are currently absconding, and police have launched efforts to trace their whereabouts.
