Advocate and activist Niraj Jain and others sat on a protest at the site claiming that the idols were from the temples razed on the Old Padra Road for the ongoing work on the flyover there.

The small temples on the roads called 'deris' were razed earlier this month late in the night. The move was slammed by political parties as well as activists. Protests were held by Congress and others against the razing.

Jain claimed that he was informed about the idols lying with other debris near the artificial pond.

He said that he rushed to the site to verify the information and found it to be true.

Jain said that he would sit on protest at the site till authorities did not come there. He has sought that the idols be installed in a dignified manner.

A VMC official said that the idols from the temples on the Old Padra Road were installed in a dignified manner at a Hanuman temple in Gorwa, Baliyadev temple in Salatvada and Bhathiji temple in Akota.
