On Saturday the Vadodara Fire Brigade team along with GEB and other teams reached the Profit Centre building and first disconnect the electric supply and then sealed the building for not complying with fire safety norms.

"The building has been sealedoff by the fire brigade due to negligence in fire safety by the profit center near Sayajiganj Kalaghoda. For the last one year the building is not showing urgency in to install fire safety equipments and keeping the people's safety at stake. The fire brigade sealed the building under Gujarat Fire Prevention Life Safety Act 2013", said Fire officer Amit Chaudhary.

It is to be mentioned that during the Corona period many people lost their lives due to fire incidents in hospitals, tuition classes as well as in high-rise buildings treating Corona patients. The High Court had directed the state government to strictly enforce fire safety to prevent such incidents. On that basis, the state government had issued a circular to strictly enforce fire safety rules in every city.

Meanwhile, the Vadodara Fire Brigade Department, run by Vadodara Mahanagar Seva Sadan, conducted an audit of fire safety resources in the buildings for the safety of the people. Notices were also issued to organizations that do not have fire safety facilities. But despite repeated notices many buildings are not taking it seriously and the fire brigade has started sealing off the properties.
