Vadodara Congress on Friday staged protest against rising cooking oil price at Chokhandi area. With empty oil cans, posters and slogans they sit on the road and shouted slogans against the government. There were scenes of clashes between police and Congress activists as Wadi police detained protesting Congress leaders and activists from the spot.

In protest against the sharp rise in edible oil prices, the Congress staged a surprise program of chakka jam with empty cans of oil at Chokhandi in Vadodara city. The event was organized under the leadership of Vadodara City Congress President Prashant Patel to protest against inflation. A large number of Congress leaders and activists joined the protest with banners and posters.

Vadodara City Congress president Prashant Patel appeal the government to lower the oil prices. They opposed and allege that government is trying to suppress their movement by using the police when the price of petrol, diesel has gone up and oil and milk have become more expensive.

Vadodara Municipal Corporation Leader of Opposition Ami Rawat said that food inflation is rising day by day and people are getting upset due to inflation. Congress has taken up the issues to give voice to people's questions. On Friday they have an aggressive program in protest of the price increase.
