Unjha MLA Asha Patel passes away at 44
The 44-year old MLA was admitted to the Zydus hospital in Ahmedabad on Friday evening as she suffered multiple organ failures due to complications post- dengue.
Dr Asha Patel an Indian politician has died at 44. The 44-year old MLA was admitted to the Zydus hospital in Ahmedabad on Friday evening as she suffered multiple organ failures due to complications post- dengue. She was on a life support system and her health status was in a critical phase.
According to sources, she returned from Delhi with women MLAs from Gujarat and Gujarat assembly speaker Nima Acharya on December 6. On her return, she had got fever which was diagnosed as dengue. She was treated at hospital in Mehsana for two days but as her condition deteriorated, she was shifted to Zydus hospital on Friday. Former chief minister Vijay Rupani and Gujarat's current CM Bhupendra Patel, also visited her in the hospital.
Dr Asha Patel was elected to the Gujarat Legislative Assembly from Unjha in the 2017 Gujarat Legislative Assembly as a member of the Indian National congress. She was one of the four member of the Indian National Congress who shifted to Bharatiya Janata Party post 2017 election. She won a by-election in 2019 for the same seat.
