Three persons, including a woman, were hit by a train late at night on the Dabhoi-Kevadia Colony Statue of Unity railway line. Two persons were killed in the incident which took place near Santpuri behind Dabhoi railway station, while the woman is being treated at Vadodara Sayaji Hospital where her condition is stated to be serious by the doctors. The incident caused anger among the locals due to the lack of facilities like railway gates near Santpuri.
As per details, the broad gauge lines from Dabhoi to Kevadia Colony were started some time back. Residents of the area around the railway tracks are under constant threat due to passing trains as they cross the railway tracks. Last night around 11 pm three persons including a woman were hit by a passing Memu train while they were crossing rhe tracks. One of them died on the spot and two people including a woman, were taken to hospital for treatment, where another died early in the morning during treatment.
Grief spread in the as two persons from Santpuri area were killed in a train accident. A large number of people had gathered on the railway tracks late at night and blamed the negligence of the system for the deaths.
The locals said, concerned departments have been approached several times for proper road and gate for commuting but nothing is done in this regard. They demand proper facilities to avoid such incidents in future.
