Two associates of Bobby Patel apprehended by SMC
SMC officials got seven-day remand for the accused on Saturday
The State Monitoring Cell (SMC) of Gujarat Police on Saturday apprehended Pravin Patel and Hitesh Patel, both residents of Malad (West), Mumbai, in connection with an illegal immigration racket. The duo is associated with Bharat Patel alias Bobby, said SMC officials.
K T Kamariya, DSP of SMC, said that both the accused are natives of Dingucha and Malekvasan in Gandhinagar district.
Investigators said that the duo is not associated with the deaths of a family from Dingucha last year on the Canada-US border.
Bobby Patel's name had surfaced in the case after which the state police had launched further probe.
SMC officials got seven-day remand for the accused on Saturday.
Police have also seized mobile phones, cash, car, bank documents, cards, identity cards and other documents.
SMC officials are also probing the case of another death on Canada-US border this year. The accused however have remained elusive so far.
