On the occasion of the centenary celebrations of the DRM office building in Vadodara, the "Shatabdi Time Capsule" containing the historical and cultural heritage of Vadodara placed down inside the ground on October 15. This is an effort to preserve the heritage for the future generations to come.
Centenary celebrations are being organized on the completion of 100 years of DRM Office Building located at Pratap Nagar on Vadodara Division of Western Railway. During this, a huge balloon was hanged at the Mandal office in the past. A heritage picture gallery was launched and felicitation ceremony was also organized to honor retired railway personnel who are getting pension for more than 30 years by rendering their services on Vadodara Division. Now the time capsule will be launched down inside the ground which will be one of the only time capsules across the country that will be opened after 100 years. The technical and cultural collaboration of this Centenary Time Capsule is by K.J. Institute of Engineering and Technology Sanwali.
Western Railway General Manager Alok Kansal said, this Shatabdi capsule covering the historical and cultural heritage of the city of Vadodara are being included, which will be inscribed on the pages of history in the coming times. More than fifty items showing the rich history of Vadodara is included in the capsule which will give a glimpse of the city exactly 100 years later. The city also registered it's name in the ongoing Azaadi ka Amrut Mahotsav with this unique time capsule.
The historical items kept in the box include wooden sleeper, track ballast, dry leaves, wood and soil of DRM office, note, coins and postage stamps, list of railway workers working in the building, time table of Vadodara station, working time table, heritage booklet. There will be interesting items like weather information on 15 October 2021, train travel tickets, old cutlery, brass bells, loco rings and commemorative postage stamps issued by Indian Post. Apart from this, some items related to local culture have also been included in it, in which local Gujarati bandhani, earthen lamps and pots, replicas of Raja Ravi Varma's paintings and literature material related to Gujarat Tourism and Statue of Unity.
Dharmesh Pandya from KJIT said Silicon gel, Ghodavraj like items seal pack the box and will preserve the items exactly after 100 years.
President of Western Railway Women Welfare Organization Tanuja Kansal, DRM, Amit Gupta, President of Women Welfare Organization, Vadodara Anju Gupta, Railway Officers and staff will present there are the ceremony.
