Three women labourers were buried alive while two others sustained serious injuries after the compound wall of a building collapsed on them at Dashehwar Farm in Ahmedabad's Ognaj area on Thursday.

The ill-fated women identified as Shitalben, Vanitaben, and Kavitaben were buried alive under the debris of the collapsed wall.

The trio breathed their last at the Civil Hospital on Sola Road in Ahmedabad.

However, two other victims identified as Ashmitaben and Rinkuben, who sustained serious injuries, are recuperating in the hospital.

The Ahmedabad fire department rushed to Ognaj following the wall collapse incident on Thursday. The firefighters fished out the victims from beneath the debris and shifted them to the New Civil Hospital on Sola road.

Jatin Patel, chairman of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation's (AMC) Water Works Committee said, "The fire teams reached the spot immediately after getting a distress call regarding the wall collapse incident. The victims were immediately shifted to the government hospital and the AMC will be taking strenuous action against the owners responsible."
