City police booked three workers of Aam Aadmi Party in Katargam police station for allegedly obstructing a Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) employee from work.

The SMC employees under assistant engineer Hemant Patel were re-fixing guard stones on the road dividers near Dhanmora Crossroads when the accused created disturbance.

The police booked Piyush Varsani, Tulsi Lalaiya and Rajni Vaghani for creating obstruction.

The SMC officials were earlier informed by the locals that some unidentified persons had removed a few of the guard stones.

Upon checking, the SMC officials found that 12 stones were damaged. Following this, the officials lodged a complaint with the police against the unidentified persons for damage of a total of Rs 5,436.

Police investigation the incident revealed that AAP national convener and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal's roadshow was to pass through that stretch, for which the guard stones were removed by AAP workers.
