Tarani - Sailing Expedition 2021 organised by 9 Naval Unit NCC at Karjan reservoir

The NCC (National Cadet Corps) Directorate of Gujarat is at the forefront in the training and motivation of the youth of Gujarat. The NCC emparts military training to Army, Navy and Air Force cadets in order to inculcate the spirit of adventure in the youth.

As part of these efforts and under the directions of Major General Arvind Kapoor, ADG, NCC Directorate Guajrat, 9 Naval Unit NCC at Navsari has organised the 'Tarani Sailing Expedition 2021' at the Karjan Reservor at Rajpipla district. The expedition has been undertaken as part of the Most Enterprising Naval Unit (MENU) competition. The Tarani Expedition also aims to commemorate the 72nd Samvidhan Divas and part of the NCC Day celebrations of NCC Directorate Gujarat.

The expedition organised from 18 to 27 Nov 2021 and will cover a distance of 210 kilometers. The expedition will have the participation of 60 Senor Division Boy Cadets and 25 Senior Wing Girl Naval cadets of NCC Group Vadodara. In addition, the Instructor Staff from Navy, Police, District Administration are part of the support team.

The sailing expediton was flagged off by Raghuvir Singh Rajendra Singh, Maharaja of Rajpipla at Karjan Dam on 19 Nov 2021. The flagging off event was witnessed by around 300 NCC cadets of different parts of Gujarat and other local guests. The Maharaja and other guests were welcomed by the expedition leader Lt Cdr Amit Nain OC, 9 Naval NCC Unit, Navsari. The cadets presented bouquets and commemoration caps to the guests.

The Maharaja of Rajpipla addressed the NCC Cadets regarding the importance of constitution and contribution of NCC in the society. He also emphasised on the discipline comradeship, leadership qualities and the important role of NCC cadets in the society. He then flagged off the expediton and wished them all the best with good winds and ful sails. The event was aso attended by Brigadier D S Rawat Commander NCC Group Vadodara and other local dignitaries.
