After a significant monsoon spell, the Aedes aegypti mosquito is back to haunt Amdavadis.

An analysis conducted by the civic body of blood samples from 327 individuals and 959 female Aedes aegypti mosquitoes, found that 28.7% of individuals tested positive for dengue, and 24.1% of mosquitoes were carriers of the virus.

This reflects in the weekly health reports of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC).

It showed that from August 1 to September 3, there were 835 cases of dengue reported at city hospitals and urban health centres.

The month of August had 805 dengue cases, a huge increase from 256 cases in August last year.

City healthcare facilities reported 1,216 dengue cases this calendar year, till September 3.

A senior AMC health official told sources that the dengue serotyping of human blood and Aedes aegypti mosquitoes (female) has detected all four types of dengue virus (DenV) that causes infection. These were DenV1, DenV2, DenV3, and DenV4.
