A major tragedy was averted after a Dubai-bound Indigo flight (6E1507) carried out an emergency landing on Ahmedabad airport’s runway on Thursday.

The flight with 150 passengers onboard took off from Surat and experienced an engine malfunction mid-air.

Taking a timely decision, the pilot immediately contacted Air Traffic Control (ATC) and diverted the flight towards Ahmedabad.

After the emergency landing at Ahmedabad airport’s runway, an inspection was carried out to determine the cause of the engine failure. Meanwhile, arrangements were made for passengers to continue their journey to Dubai.

After switching aircraft, the passengers departed for Dubai from Ahmedabad. Notably, the pilot’s decision helped avert a major disaster.

This comes a month after another Delhi to Goa Indigo flight landed in Mumbai amidst a full emergency after one of its engines failed, according to sources.

The aircraft landed at 9.42 pm on July 15 at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport.
