Street vendors near Vadodara Municipal Corporation headquarters removed
On Tuesday VMC teams reached the area and started removing the vendors
VADODARA: Encroachment removal squads of the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) removed street vendors selling fruits and flowers near the Khanderao Market headquarters of the civic body.
The vendors had been warned last week that they would face action if they did not vacate the area.
Mayor Keyur Rokadiya had visited the area and met the vendors on Friday. The vendors were occupying space on the road as well as footpaths leading to traffic jams. Rokadiya had asked them to vacate the space, but this did not happen.
On Tuesday VMC teams reached the area and started removing the vendors. Seeing the action some vendors left the place on their own with their goods.
The teams removed two truckloads of material from the area. Sources said that similar drives would be taken up in the future too if the vendors did not comply.
