A street dog went on a biting spree in Waghodiya village near Vadodara on Thursday morning and bit at least 15 persons.
The incident took place on the busy road between the mosque and the government health centre in the village.
According to an official at the health centre, 15 persons came to the centre with dog bites.
While the official said that it was the same dog that bit the people, sources said that a group of dogs had gone on a biting spree.
The patients were administered tetanus and anti-rabies vaccines. Those whose wounds were not deep were given first aid and allowed to go home.
However, four persons had serious bite injuries and were sent to SSG Hospital in Vadodara for treatment.
Sources said that the village panchayat had requested that the dogs should be caged.
However, as per laws if the dogs are not found to be carrying rabies, they should be vaccinated and released at the same place after performing animal birth control surgeries on them.
